Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What is hydro dipping?
A: Typically used in the auto industry, hydro dipping (also known as water transfer printing) is a multi-step process that allows you to give a "paint job" to any 3D object. The "paint" in this case is a printed sheet of film, which is laid across water. The film is then activated using an activator spray. We then have about 30 seconds from that point to dip the item through the film. When we pull it out of the water, voila! The film has "transferred" from the sheet to the item itself - hence the term, "water transfer printing".
Q: How long does the process take?
A: It takes us anywhere from 7 to 10 business days to complete a set of PS5 hydro dipped plates. This does not include order processing and shipping to/from time.
Q: Why does it take so long?
A: Hydro dipping is an art form and requires multiple steps to get right. Each item must be prepped thoroughly to ensure a high quality final product. Once the dip is complete, the job is still not done. Clear coat application, touch-up and final polishing awaits.
Q: How long does shipping take?
A: All Hydro orders are shipped using USPS Priority Mail, which usually takes 1-3 business days.
Q: Is hydro dipping permanent?
A: Finished Hydro products are made to be permanent, as we apply an automotive-grade clearcoat at the final step. However, as with any paint, it can always be removed via sanding or just painting over it.
Q: What if I am not happy with the finished product?
A: If you sent in your OEM plates: You can send them back to us and we will paint them back to white again. However, you will need to cover the shipping cost plus a $30 labor fee.
If you purchase pre-made: You can return it to us for a full refund, given you have not installed it to your PS5 yet. However, you will need to cover the shipping cost.
