Thank you for purchasing one of our GameVinyl Console Skins / Wraps for PlayStation 4 Slim! Below is our application guide to help you get started.
Items that can make this process easier:
Step 1: Clean the device
This is an often overlooked but absolutely essential step. If you don't clean it, any debris that is left on it will show through the skin! Take some glass cleaner and spray it on the device, then use a microfiber towel or other clean towel to wipe off. Stay away from paper towels, as they can leave lint.
Step 2: See what you're working with
Unroll and lay out the vinyl material on a flat surface. We recommend you use the largest table you can find to perform the installation. Below is what you'll see when it's laid out.
Make note of the pink cut lines. You won't see these on the physical printout, but that's where the cuts are in the print. This is where the skin will peel off of the backing piece of vinyl material.
Step 3: Install the Top Skin
Peel the entire top piece off, and align a corner to begin. That first touch of the skin on the console is the most important, so take your time to get it correctly aligned. Slowly work your way down the console, applying even amounts of pressure as you do. You'll know your alignment is perfect by how centered the skin fits around the "PS" logo. If you have a second set of hands to help, they can hold the other side of the piece so it does not stick to the console. If you mess up, don't worry. The material is meant to be stuck and unstuck if necessary without causing damage or reducing the adhesiveness. Simply unstick, and try again. To help prevent or remove air bubbles, take a hair dryer or heat gun and apply heat to the skin after application, and use a credit card or other hard plastic tool to iron out any air bubbles that may have formed.
If it's just you: Before peeling off, use a pair of scissors to (carefully) cut this entire piece off of the main roll of vinyl. By doing this, you will be able to peel off just the top of the sticker - enough to get a corner onto the top of the console, while still having everything under it still on the backing material. This will make it easier because you will not have to worry about the rest of the piece sticking onto the console before it's properly aligned. It will also help prevent air bubbles. For reference, see this video tutorial below for this method:
Step 4: Front, Left and Right Sides
These pieces are curved at the ends. But once you stick one on, the following pieces will simply need to match up with the previous. That being said, it's important to get the first one right. Start with the front piece (circled in red below). It's the side that has the two USB ports and the power button.
Align both pieces to be as centered as possible. The curved edges on either side should match up perfectly with the contour of the console itself.
Once you have those two front pieces done, the doing the rest of the sides is easy. Simple line them up where you left off on those front pieces, and they'll pretty much align themselves for you (assuming you did the first part right).
Step 5: Bottom Skin
Flip the console over, making sure to place it on a surface that will not damage or scratch the beautiful skin you just applied on the top. Now, peel off the bottom skin from the backing vinyl. Align the skin by using the PlayStation shape symbols (the triangle and X specifically) as your guide. It can literally only go one way.
Step 6: Rear Port Panel
These last three pieces are simple, too. Peel, align to the best of your ability, and stick!
Common Troubleshooting Questions
Q: I see air bubbles in the skin after application. What can I do?
A: This is where a heat gun or hair dryer will come in handy. Apply heat to the console skin for 30 seconds by switching on and aiming the hair dryer or heat gun towards it. Use a credit card or squeegee to iron out any bubbles by sweeping them toward the sides of the skin.
